I know I haven't posted in a bit so first things first, yes, I'm still alive. For those of you who are regulars in Facebook land my presence is pretty active actually. I just don't seem to make it back over to LJ land as often as I should. On to important things though.

Ronin is a year old today. I can't really believe so much time has already passed. He's now 23lbs about 3 times more than he was when he was born and a happy walking talking toddler now.

After missing three festivals I was finally able to return back to FPG, www.flapagan.org, but this time with some new company. This was ashe_darkthorne 's and 'lil R's first time to festival and I'm sure to say they had a great time. 'Lil R was dubbed the Lugal (staff member) of Cute fairly quickly and will hopefully have his own badge for Samhain.

We were up good and early Wednesday morning with the 'Lil R, the car already packed. We dropped the puppy dog off at the vet to be boarded, stopped by walmart for some last minute items and made it to site by 11:15 am. My goal had been 11:00 am so I think that's pretty damn good. Probably the best timing I've every pulled off actually. ::smirk::

We get there and start unloading.We were lucky to have a pair of great roomies athairn  and her soon to be hubby S. I think we sorta cheated this time around, not really 'camping' per say. For the sake of 'Lil R it was for the best though. I would have worried about the heat if we were in a tent.

I got to see many people I hadn't seen in ages and spend some good quality time with many others.  Logistically the weekend worked out much better than I had hoped. I was worried how 'Lil R would take all the festivities and being away from home. He did great. He was the biggest Ham there ever was. For those who saw him right before bedtime witnessed him go through some massive fussiness. Naps were a bit difficult to pull off in full. Overall though he did really well. I shocked my back isn't killing me carrying him around in a sling all weekend. ashe_darkthorne had him in the carrier many times but both of us still carried him an awful lot. Thankfully he should be walking by samhain.

I do wish we could have gotten out a bit more. I feel we spent so much time at the staff lodge between 'Lil R's naps and working my staff job. I made it to only one workshop, the Candy Ritual, which was very nice actually. Ran into an old friend from high school there too. ashe_darkthorne got to go to a few more things than I did but not much. A highlight was getting to wander vendor's row where we found a plushie Cthulu for 'Lil R.

The event has definately awakened the social bug in me. I hope we can arrange to see others much more often. Or at least talk via phone or internet if the in person thing isn't feasable. Oh yah I just got a new webcam for Mother's Day too so we want to create a chat group through www.stickam.com for FPG. Look it up and I'll post the info when ashe_darkthorne  has it up and running.

I know some may hate them but I'm a list-a-holic. Yes I admit it. I have lists all over the place from my to do lists for work on pieces of paper around my desk. Then there are pieces of paper floating around in the abyss that is my purse. I also have tried using Tasks in Outlook Express and recently the tasks feature in Gmail. Maybe if I let everyone else know what I'm up to then I'll be accountable for getting it done because you all will see if I slacked.

Another Friday roles around and though I look forward to my days off being at home with the family I also wonder so what are we going to do with the time. Probably it'll turn out like any other weekend with the highlight being either the trip to the grocery store, or watching a movie. Sometimes I love that but it's starting to get pretty old. I would love to see people and be social but unless it's something during the day that's getting really tough now. The last few times we've tried haven't worked out so well unless it's at our place. That cuts our options done to nill. Makes me wish at times I had something like WoW still for some form of social interaction that can take place from my living room. Le sigh, I just need to remember that FPG is only a few weeks away and that should hopefully fulfill my social fix for quite awhile.

How many times I've heard that because I'm scientifically minded that means I am not creative nor open to imaginative thinking. The two are not mutually exclusive.

First off I'm still gripping with the fact that R is now 9 months old. He just had his check up this morning. He's now 21lbs 7 oz, and 29 3/4 inches tall. He peed on the nurse who was trying to weigh him too. So go him. The Dr. wants us to begin the transition of weening him from the bottle to sippy cups only. He already takes a sippy cup fairly well for water or juice, now it is just getting him to drink formula from it. A is planning to start him with that. Still no teeth though. They are just being stubborn I swear. We're going to start progressing more to real food for the little man and away from the land of pulverized stuff. Either that means making multiple meals or continuing to change A and I's diet to something more healthy that is good for little R to eat too. Kids change your life in ways you didn't think they would always. It's that whole being a role model thing now. Like we now eat dinner at the table except for rare occasions.

On to the rest of the weekend that was thankfully very quiet. We were disappointed that we forgot the Tampa Comic and Toy Convention was yesterday. We normally go to it every time it goes on (about every 3 months) but this time it just slipped our minds. :( Le Sigh... We got the house cleaned a bit and I successfully made homemade pizza. The crust I did was very basic and it needs some more seasoning for the future but I think we've found a good starting point. We also tried for the first time turkey peperoni. I couldn't tell the difference other than it's a zillion times less greasy. Yippy for that alone.

So yeah it's Friday, no plans for the weekend but sometimes that's a good thing.

Tada I finally figured out a new screenname. I swear coming up with screennames is an art and after a few weeks of thinking on it, poof something came to me. So here we are. After years and years of being online chained to a username and a friendslist I decided to spring clean and flip to a new 'online identity'. I had had the previous username for 7 years and with it were many people I no longer wanted tracking my posts. I had flipped to friends online for almost everything about 3 years ago and I'm sick of doing that. I will always make certain things friends only of course but I'm happy to have retained a bit of online anonymity. It was a few months back the entire household went through the abrupt realization of how much of a trail you sometimes leave in your wake online as someone began using anything public as amunition against us. It was at that point where I started changing usernames, making certain things private, never using my real name in full except for the one exception of facebook that is set to fully private. Though my LJ never had my real name on it I also decided to not have every social networking profile use the same username either. You guys may think this a bit crazy. But, I just want to control what is being put out there. I want to know that if this is found by someone I don't know, or who I don't want knowing, they won't be have the tools available to connect the dots to any other online profiles. I'm going to keep up the other LJ screenname for a bit for the sake of the flist until more people are confirmed in the switch. Until then I'll just write here for my much more limited audience. :)
